This week we focused on validating our product and building our MVP. At this stage, we wanted to test one main question: does grouping people around a shared, simple trait actually create connection and conversation?

To do this, we ran a small, hands-on simulation during a Runi Space club meeting with about 30 students. At the entrance, everyone was asked: “How do you like your coffee?” Each student chose one of four colorful stickers based on his answer and placed it on their chest. The sticker made the shared trait visible and gave people an easy way to start talking.

The results were encouraging. Four students told us that the activity helped them start a conversation with someone they had never talked to before. The conversations didn’t stay only about coffee, some conversations moved to more personal topics. Overall, the feedback was very positive. The activity felt simple, flowing, and not stressful. At the same time, we learned that the product needs to be more visual, and that it should include a group activity, not just the grouping itself.

In this week’s class, we also took part in a safety workshop and lab introduction. It was exciting to finally start working with the tools and enter the hands-on part of the course. During the week, we built our first MVP: a fabric bracelet with beads that simulate LED lights, as shown in the image below.
